OUR FOUNDER

Lynn’s Journey to Yangshuo.

Lynn was born in Italy and began her career designing and making jewelry by hand. Years of travel introduced her to different materials, craft traditions and ways of understanding beauty.

When she arrived in Yangshuo, its limestone peaks, flowing rivers and slower rhythm resonated with what she wanted her work to express. She stayed, opened a small storefront with two others near the Li River, and founded L&X here in 2002.

“Different cultures offer different ways of seeing. At L&X, they meet in one design language.”
24 YEARS OF PRACTICE

From a small storefront to a shared practice.

What began beside the Li River gradually grew through different people, places and ways of working—while remaining connected to thoughtful design, natural materials and jewelry finished by human hands.

2002

A beginning in Yangshuo

While traveling with friends, Lynn arrived in Yangshuo. Three people began working together from a small rented storefront near West Street and the Li River, learning from local materials and making jewelry by hand.

2015

The workshop becomes a studio

L&X grew into a six-person team. Designers worked alongside locally hired makers, bringing design, material selection, assembly and inspection into one shared studio.

2020–2021

From local workshop to online

L&X began selling through international marketplaces in 2020, then opened its independent online store in 2021 to share its designs and materials more directly.

Today

A practice connected across places

Designers, makers and locally recruited workshop staff now work across physical studios in Italy, the Netherlands and China, serving customers in Europe and North America.

Different roles. One shared studio.

By 2015, L&X had grown into a six-person team with members from Italy, the Netherlands, New Zealand and China. Designers worked alongside locally hired makers, bringing different perspectives and practical skills into one shared studio.

Design, material selection, assembly and inspection became part of a more established process, gradually transforming the original storefront into an independent jewelry studio.
